History
Eric Noel and Jon Bauder formed the idea in 1991 that would later become Restaurant Computer Solutions, Inc. (RCS). Noel’s experience as a manager in the fine dining industry gave him first-hand knowledge of the point of sale (POS) systems that were then available. Citing problems related to reliability, security, and speed in the existing products, Noel began the design process for a software POS solution that would address all of these major concerns.  Bauder’s technical, sales and distribution background was integral in creating a well rounded product to take to market.

Restaurant Computer Solutions was officially founded in 1992 and released the first of its POS software products in 1993. By 1995, the product had evolved into the RCS-100 Point of Sale System. Additional products were developed in the following years that extended the features of the RCS-100 to integrate credit card processing, hotel room charge posting, and gift certificate (prepaid account) tracking.

Restaurant Computer Solutions, Inc. had marketed its products through an independent dealer base that covered many of the major markets across the United States. With the stable revenue generated by the dealers, Restaurant Computer Solutions, Inc. was able to expand its operations into direct installations.

VersiTouch point of sale was released in 2000 to replace the aging RCS-100 as the new flagship POS software product for Restaurant Computer Solutions, Inc. Through word-of-mouth, VersiTouch has become a nationally recognized point of sale brand.

In 2006, VersiTouch became known as Sterling Point of Sale and continues to create and release POS software that is highly reliable, flexible and user friendly while offering it at a value that restaurants will truly see a return on their investment.
